History of the Awards

When our Founder Pamela Jeffery started Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards in 2003, she wanted to shine a spotlight on the incredible accomplishments of professional women across Canada in a way that would both recognize talented leaders and inspire others—the next generation, their peers and themselves—to push the boundaries of what’s possible even further. Since then, WXN has celebrated the accomplishments of 800 remarkable women through the Awards. Each year, we are proud to host four Top 100 Celebrations across the country in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal. Each Top 100 Regional Celebration is comprised of two events: a Leadership Summit and Awards.

About the Leadership Summit

At the Top 100 Leadership Summit, WXN is determined to break through the barriers that are holding you back from becoming the most effective leader possible. Research in Future Trends in Leadership Development by the Center for Creative Leadership shows that the future of leadership development should focus on the collective rather than the individual. Said another way: we have to concentrate on supporting and developing leadership in the entire team, rather than one leader at the top.

As a leader how can you ensure you are continuously growing your skill set but also invest in and learn from, those around you? Topics covered at this event will include: how to develop your own leadership skills and then use them to empower your team, how to overcome challenges of working cross culturally and remotely; and how to create and utilize your network or community to enhance professional and personal growth.

About the Awards Gala

First and foremost, the Awards Gala is about celebration and recognition. This year, we are thrilled to welcome another year of accomplished recipients into our Top 100 Community, raising our total number to 871, including 117 Hall of Fame Inductees. On November 26, 2015, we will shine the spotlight on our Award Winners, as well as their organizations and networks who play a vital role in the overall success of this greater community. Inspiring and building on the “collective impact” of their networks and teams, these are the leaders who are reshaping what is possible—and that’s something truly worth celebrating.
