A Quick Web Site Tip Guide

 

In the interests of making the web site easy to use for our members, we have developed this quick tip guide to help you through any questions you may have about processing your application, registering for an event and more....

 

SETTING WEB SITE REGION AND LANGUAGE PREFERENCES:

By setting your region, you control which information shows up on your home page. The Upcoming Events and Events Calendar will only display those events occurring in your region.  When you select this at the top right of the screen, or in your profile, you are setting up the content you want to see for your area.

 

How to set your region and language preferences:

  • Click the drop down arrow on the top right hand side of the web site
  • Select the option which corresponds to your region
  • Note: The default language for “Canada – Quebec” is French, but you have the option of selecting English from the drop down menu next to the region menu.  The default language for “Canada – All Provinces” is English, but you have the option of selecting French from the drop down menu next to the region menu. 

 

APPLYING FOR MEMBERSHIP:

In order to take advantage of the great online networking opportunities offered through the WXN web site, you must be a member of WXN

To become a member of WXN, you must create an account and then complete your application by filling out your profile and adhering to the membership criteria. Once completed you can submit your application.

 

How to create an account:

  • Click on the box next to the video on the home page that reads “Be a part of the community.  Become a WXN member”
  • Read through the Terms & Conditions
  • Check off “I have read the Terms & Conditions”
  • Click “Start Here”
  • You will receive an e-mail confirming that you have created an account with the Women’s Executive Network.  Be sure to complete all of your profile/membership application before your application is submitted.
  • If you don’t have time to complete the application, you can revisit the process at any time by logging back in.

 

How to complete your application:

 

After creating your account with the Women’s Executive Network, you will be taken to the Profile page. 

  • You may choose to fill out the information in your profile manually, or to sync your WXN profile with your LinkedIn profile.  (Further steps described below in the “How to sync your WXN profile with LinkedIn” section)
  • There are 6 sections to your profile:  
    • Basic Information 
    • Contact Information 
    • Educational Information 
    • Professional Information 
    • Account Settings 
    • WXN Membership Application 

Fill out each section by clicking on the blue bar to expand the section.  Make sure you fill out all of the required fields (indicated by an asterix)

 

How to sync your WXN profile with LinkedIn:

 

If you don’t want to fill out your profile manually, you have the option of importing information from your LinkedIn profile.

  • Click “LinkedIn Sync”, located just off to the right of the “Profile Completion Status” bar.
  • A dialog box will appear
  • Click on “LinkedIn URL”.
  • A new window will open indicating that WXN wants to access your LinkedIn account.  Select the duration for which you wish to grant WXN access. 
  • Click Grant Access.
  • A security code is now displayed.  Copy and paste this code into the “Access Token” field in the dialog box that was displayed on your Profile page. 
  • Click Continue.
  • Your Profile has now been synced with your LinkedIn profile.

 How to submit your application:

  • Fill out the information in the last section of your profile, “WXN Membership Application”.
  • Click “Submit Application”
  • Click “Save Changes”
  • You will receive an e-mail indicating that your application is under review.  Please allow 5 business days for this review process.

How to complete your membership payment:

  • Once your application has been approved, you will receive an e-mail indicating that your application has been approved and directing you to the checkout to complete your payment.
  • Click on the URL in the e-mail, or login to your profile and click on the link for quick and easy payment, located at the bottom of your profile.
  • Fill out your payment information and click “Buy Now”.
  • You will receive an e-mail indicating that payment has been received and you are now a member of WXN.

 

LOGGING IN TO THE WEB SITE:

As a WXN member, you have a unique username and password which allows you to log in to the web site, update your profile and participate in discussions with other WXN members. 

How to login:

  • Type your username (e-mail address) into the login field at the top right hand side of your screen. 
  • Type your password into the password field. 
  • Click Login.

If you have difficulties logging in, double check that you are using the correct e-mail address and that you are typing your password correctly.  All passwords are case-sensitive.

If you need to reset your password or you don’t have the latest email address on file with WXN please email your new coordinates to sthompson@wxnetwork.com

 

UPDATING YOUR PROFILE:

 

In order to serve you better, and inform you of upcoming events you may be interested in, please ensure that you update your profile regularly.

  • Once logged in to the web site, you will see “Welcome (your name)” at the top right hand side of the screen.  Click “Profile”, which is located just below this. 
  • You are now in the Profile page. 
  • A “Profile Completion Status” bar is located at the top of your profile, indicating how close you are to achieving a full profile.  Try to complete as much as possible.  If we are missing a field or a drop down item, please let us know!
  • Just off to the right of the “Profile Completion Status”, you can click on “LinkedIn Sync” to import information from your LinkedIn profile.  (Further steps described above in the “How to sync your WXN profile with LinkedIn” section above).

How to update your WXN profile manually:

  • There are 5 sections to your profile:  
    • Basic Information
    • Contact Information
    • Educational Information
    • Professional Information
    •  Account Settings
    • Fill out your Basic Information. 
      • This is where you provide your name, birth date, password, and bio.  You also have the option of uploading your photo.
      • You can also reset your password in this area.
      • To move onto the next section of your profile, click on the blue bar where “Contact Information” appears.  This will expand the section. 
      • Go through the various fields and update to current.
      • Continue these steps for each section of your profile until it is complete.
      • After updating all information, click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.

 

How to change your password:

  • Within the Basic Information section of your profile, you will see your e-mail and password listed (password is not displayed).
  • To change your password, click “Change”.
  • Type your new password in the “Change Password” and “Confirm Password” fields.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Save Changes.”

WXN doesn’t have access to your password. If you forget it, please email us to reset it again.

 

REGISTERING FOR AN EVENT:

  • To view all upcoming events in your region, go to the Upcoming Events section located at the bottom left hand side of the home page and click “See All”.
  • Click “Read More” for the event you are interested in attending.
  • Click the “Register Here” button located off to the top right side of the page.
  • To register click the drop down menu beneath “Qty” for “WXN – Member” and select 1.  If you are also paying for another member to attend, select 2 and so on. 
  • Your name, e-mail, phone number, title, and organization should auto-populate for yourself, but if not, fill out this information. 
  • When all information is filled out, click “Add/Update Cart”.  Your payment details, including the total charge, will then be displayed on the page.
  • Fill out your payment information. 
  • Click on the box next to “I have read the Terms & Conditions” (and read the Terms & Conditions by clicking on the link if you haven’t already done so).
  • Click Buy Now.
  • You will receive a confirmation and a receipt
  • Two days prior to the event you will receive an event reminder

 

Bringing a Guest?

  • For any additional members or guests that you are bringing, fill out their information as well.
  • If you are bringing a guest, click the drop down menu beneath “Qty” for “Guest – Non-Member” and select the number of guests you are bringing.
