News Anchor & Host CBC News Toronto Nil Köksal is the weekend news anchor and host of CBC News Toronto, Saturdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 11:00 p.m. on CBC Television. With more than a decade in the industry, Nil has built a name in breaking news and skilled storytelling. She started at CBC in 2001 as an intern, working her way up in the newsroom from writer to producer to videojournalist, telling Toronto's stories. She has covered some of the biggest stories in Ontario and the United States. Nil brought viewers the stories of Egyptian Canadians watching the Mubarak government collapse. She was part of the CBC News Team bringing viewers breaking news coverage from the turbulent G20 Summit in Toronto. Nil has also reported abroad, covering international stories developing in Turkey and Washington, DC. Nil is a regular substitute host on CBC News Toronto weekdays at 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. and contributes to CBC Radio One, CBC News Network and The National. Nil was born in Istanbul, Turkey and immigrated to Canada at the age of four. Nil has degrees in Political Science, English and Journalism from the University of British Columbia and Ryerson University. Chief Planner The City of Toronto As the newly engaged Chief Planner for the City of Toronto, Jennifer is committed to creating places where people flourish. Over the past decade Jennifer has been repeatedly recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners, OPPI, the Design Exchange, EDRA for her innovative work in Canadian municipalities. Her planning practice is characterized by an emphasis on collaborations across sectors, and broad engagement with municipal staff, councils, developers, business leaders, NGO's and residents associations. Jennifer is the founder of Project Walk, which premiered its first short film in 2011, as an official selection at the TIFF. In 2012 Jennifer debuted her first TED talk, Walk to School.
