Recently at a WXN Breakfast in Calgary, 2007 WXN Top 100 Hall of Fame inductee and Corporate Director Kathleen Sendall was interviewed by WXN founder, Pamela Jeffery as they delved into a variety of questions. We think Kathy’s ‘Top 10’ list makes pretty good sense and is also a great conversation starter. Here are Kathy’s ‘Top 10’: 1. Never give up the search for the perfect mascara. 2. Last week in Ottawa, the Women’s Executive Network wrapped up its 2012 breakfast series with the help of Maryantonett Flumian, President of the Institute On Governance, and Lili-Ann Foster, President of Renaud Foster Management Consultants – giving us the insider’s scoop on the changing environment of leadership. 1.   What led you to this topic: the rise and fall of food empires? The idea for the book arose out of conversations that we started when we wrote our first book, Beef: The Untold Story of How Milk, Meat, and Muscle Shaped the World, which was largely an essay on the industrialization of livestock. We started asking broader questions about the history of how our food system got to its present state. As we explored the background, we saw a pattern in how agriculture and the food trade affect societies as disparate as ancient Rome and 19th-century Sri Lanka.   Tags: well being, economics What are WXN Members Reading?
WXNReads I am always curious about what our WXN community is reading these days. I am a big non-fiction fan. I love quotes and books on a variety of business, psych and sociological topics. This weekend I picked up Jeremy Rifkin's book on the Empathetic Civilization. Great read!!
