Recently at a WXN Breakfast in Calgary, 2007 WXN Top 100 Hall of Fame inductee and Corporate Director Kathleen Sendall was interviewed by WXN founder, Pamela Jeffery as they delved into a variety of questions. We think Kathy’s ‘Top 10’ list makes pretty good sense and is also a great conversation starter. Here are Kathy’s ‘Top 10’:
1. Never give up the search for the perfect mascara.
2. Never lose your sense of humour and ability to laugh, especially at yourself.
3. Listen - learn to keep your mouth shut and control your temper.

Beth Oakes is the Founder and Managing Partner of The Oakes Group, a career management form for executives. Ms. Oakes served as Executive Vice President in the Toronto office of DHR International Executive Search where she actively engaged in searches in the C-suite on behalf of Canadian and International Oranizations. Ms. Oakes has extensive experience in personal branding and human capital management, including career management and organizational design in both Canada and the US. Prior to joining DHR International, Ms. Oakes was Managing Director at Miller Dallas. There, she provided branding and career marketing strategies to over 1000 executives in all functional areas including Board Directors and across a broad range of industry sectors including financial services, private equity, telecommunications, media and entertainment, professional services, health care, government and industrial. A Certified Management Consultant, Ms. Oakes is a member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants. She is a member of Institute of Corporate Directors, the Womenâ€™s Executive Network and the US Society for Human Resource Management, having earned lifetime certification. Ms. Oakes is also the Chair of the Youth Employment Services (YES) board, is a frequent guest speaker and her work has been published. She holds a degree in Psychology from The University of Western Ontario.
